Accessibility:

There is a gated entrance to the museum and lighthouse. Paths are laid to stone and paving. The lighthouse itself is not accessible to wheelchair users and has 144 steps to the top. There are two steps leading into the museum entrance. On-street parking is available, however some roads have double yellow lines.

Brief Description:

Withernsea Lighthouse was built in 1892, stands at 127 feet tall, and is one of only a handful of lighthouses built inland. It is no longer in use as a working lighthouse, and is now open to visitors. There are 144 steps to the top, with views over Withernsea and East Yorkshire.

At the front of the lighthouse are two cottages, which were originally where the lighthouse keepers lived. They have now been turned into the museum, containing displays about the lighthouse and history of Withernsea Town.

Directions:

Situated 3.9 miles SE of Roos. Head E on B1242, and continue following onto Waxholme Road/B1242. At the end of this road, the lighthouse will be directly in front of you.
