Accessibility

There is free car parking on site with overflow parking available a short walk from the zoo entrance. Guide dogs welcome (except in animal walk-through exhibits). Ground surface is a combination of tarmac, gravel, and grass with some areas only accessible via loose gravel slopes or steps which could be inaccessible for wheelchair and mobility scooter users, or families with a pushchair. Wheelchair loan available via the zoo office. Disability toilet and baby changing facility on site. All catering facilities and toilets are reachable via tarmac paths and have ramp access.

Brief description

Set into the landscape overlooking Colywn Bay and the Carneddau mountains, the Welsh Mountain Zoo is home to 140 animal species and a variety of gardens boasting rare species of plant, spread across the 37 acres site.

Directions

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is 1.2 miles from the A55 North Wales Expressway (Junction 20), and 1.6 miles west from the centre of Colywn Bay.

Opening Times

March - October: 9:30am to 6pm daily 
October - November: 9:30am to 5pm daily
December - January: 9:30am to 4:30pm daily (closed Christmas day)

Transport

The Welsh Mountain Zoo is 1.5 miles south from Colwyn Bay train station and 0.8 miles south of the nearest bus stop.
Between April and October there is a free minibus service between Colwyn Bay train station and the Zoo from 10am (Always check with the venue directly for up-to-date information regarding the minibus service as terms and conditions and operation times may be subject to change).
