Brief Description:
The Buddhapadipa temple or Wat Buddhapadipa was the first Thai Buddhist temple to be built in the UK. It is home to Buddhist monks and nuns but welcomes visitors of any faith to view the grounds and temple. Inside the temple the murals on the walls portray the Buddha's life from birth to death.
Visitors are welcome to walk around the gardens which include an ornamental lake, flower garden and orchard.

Opening Times:
The Temple’s grounds: 9.30 am - 6 pm during spring & summer, and 9.30 am - 5 pm during autumn & winter. Booking not required to walk around the grounds on your own.
The Main Temple is open at weekends or by appointment only.

Buddhapadipa Temple is located on Calonne Road in Wimbledon. To the east of Wimbledon Common, just off Parkside (A219). OS TQ 238 717
Transport:
The London Congestion Charge Zone ( https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/congestion-charge/congestion-charge-zone) runs from Monday to Friday and motorists have ample signage to alert them to the entry points; only vehicles that are registered by the DVLA as ‘Disabled Tax-Exempt’ are NOT liable to the Charge. Disabled Tax-Exempt drivers can also use the Dartford Crossing without charge, which is a river crossing to the east of London which links the north and south of the M25 orbital motorway. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) automatically identifies the registration number plate of these vehicles so that their owners do not need to take any additional action.
The Temple is outside the Congestion Zone area, if travelling by car, for specific directions it is best to use a satnav, but please be aware that the route may take you in and out of the Central London Congestion Charge zone. It is best to approach Central London using the excellent public transport.

Overground: Wimbledon. From the station take the 93 bus towards Putney. Bus stops on Parkside (A219) at top of Calonne Road, next to Wimbledon Common.
Putney. From the station take the 93 bus towards Cheam. Bus stops on Parkside (A219) at top of Calonne Road, on opposite side of road to Wimbledon Common.
Underground: Southfields and Wimbledon Park (District Line). Both about a 30 min walk.
