Accessibility

The area around the church is pedestrianised. There are several multi-storey car parks nearby, the nearest is on Westgate.

At the West Entrance, beneath the tower, there are several small stone steps, all highlighted with yellow edges.The South Entrance is accessible with no steps. There are various individual steps within the church to access certain areas. There are accessible toilets and a tea shop (open Monday to Saturday).

There is a Shopmobility located at St David's Shopping Centre, P3, Mary Ann Street, CF10 2EQ Electric wheelchairs and scooters or manual wheelchairs are available for those with limited mobility. The shopping centre itself is fully accessible to wheelchairs and has accessibility toilets.



Brief Description

St John's Church is the oldest building in Cardiff City after Cardiff Castle, and dates back to the 12th century. It is a Grade 1 Listed building with many interesting architectural features and stained glass windows. The church has a perpendicular tower, a tomb with effigies and a grand Father Willis organ.

Follow the M4 to Cardiff, exiting onto the A48 or A470 towards the city centre. Follow signs for city centre and Cardiff Castle. There are several car parks in the area and the church is in walking distance of the Castle.
