Accessibility:
Situated in the centre of Castle Park, Crickhowell Castle is surrounded on all sides with grass. There are pathways that lead across the park that run right past it. No toilets on this site. Parking in the area could prove tricky, with narrow roads leading around the Castle and park, although there is marked out spaces along the A40 side of the park, next to and opposite Natwest bank. This may be on a pay and display system, please see the sign posts regarding parking when you arrive.
Brief Description:Crickhowell Castle, also known as Alisby's castle, is a conspicuous feature of the small market town and occupies a vantage point with commanding views along the Usk valley. It began life as a motte and bailey with timber buildings, probably built by the Turberville family in the 12th century.

There are picnic tables at the castle, so you are welcome to take your own food, and in the Park a Playground, Heol Y Castell, Crickhowell NP8 1AP. You can go into the town of Crickhowell, where there is a variety of places to eat, drink and stay.
