Accessibility:

This church is surrounded by grass with no clearly marked pathway. There are two steps down into the church through the main doorway. No toilets at this church.

Brief Description:

St Mary's is one of the oldest churches in Essex. Dated at around 1000AD, some historians suggest a much earlier date, around 850AD. However, there may have been much earlier pre-Christian worship on the site, as suggested by the oval shape of the churchyard.
