Brief description:
The city of Chester sits on the River Dee and close to the border of Wales. It has a rich and varied history starting in AD.79 when a Roman fortress (Deva Victix) was founded. The Grade I city walls are the most complete in Britain and the Norman castle is also well preserved. A cathedral has existed in the city since AD.689. The city has a wide variety of building architecture which include the Eastgate clock and The Rows, famous for its black and white architecture and two-storey shopping arcade. Other attractions include the Roman amphitheater, museum, racecourse and zoo.
