"Cefin Campbell was born and bred in the Amman Valley. After leaving university, Cefin taught Welsh for Adults at Swansea University before being appointed as a lecturer in Welsh Language and Literature and Welsh History at Cardiff University. He established the first Menter Iaith in Wales – also serving as a member of the S4C Authority and as acting as a language advisor to Bòrd na Gàidhlig in Scotland. In 2008, he set up a consultancy business called Sbectrwm. Cefin also served a County Councillor on Carmarthenshire County Council from 2012 to 2021 and a member of the Carmarthenshire County Council Cabinet with responsibility for Rural Affairs and Communities between 2017 and 2021.

Cefin is married, with three daughters and lives near Llandeilo in the Tywi Valley, Carmarthenshire. In his spare time, he enjoys watching the Scarlets, supporting Swansea City, fishing and caravanning.

Cefin was elected to the Senedd in May 2021, and initially served as Plaid Cymru’s spokesperson for Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Cefin’s main political interests are in supporting legislation to tackle the second homes crisis, tackling rural poverty, regenerating rural communities and creating one million Welsh speakers. Cefin holds a range of responsibilities in the Senedd, including chairing the Cross Party Group on Welsh Wool.

Between 2021 and 2024 Cefin was one of Plaid Cymru's Designated Members in the Co-operation Agreement with the Welsh Government."
